Results Matter.
PADECO has been integrating capacity building interventions into its programming to empower frontline stakeholders, from ultimate beneficiaries to implementing partners. The goal is to equip them with the skills to manage projects sustainably. These skills include planning, designing, monitoring, assessing, reporting for decision-making, improving projects, and achieving desirable results.
With this stewardship, PADECO conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) for its grassroots beneficiaries from February 24 to 27, 2025, in Ludewa and Luana wards, based in Ludewa district.
Training Themes
The training focused on three key themes:
- Climate Change Mitigation through Forestry Garden Establishment
- Modern Beekeeping, Honey Production, and Processing
- Financial Literacy and Business Skills based on the IGA and SILC Model
Participants
The training welcomed not only direct rural beneficiaries but also other local residents, with a total attendance of 65 Trainers of Trainees. This group comprised:
- 37 primary beneficiaries from two beekeeping entrepreneurship groups
- 28 additional community members
The sessions employed a variety of tactics, sharing hands-on experience and actionable insights to ensure participants could immediately apply their new knowledge in their local contexts.
Technical and Material Support
In addition to technical training, the project provided beneficiaries with modern equipment to expand and diversify their green enterprises. This included:
- Honey extraction and processing equipment
- Tree nurseries equipped with irrigation infrastructure
These initiatives were supported by funding from the Forest Farm Facility (FFF) through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Impact
These interventions have strengthened local capabilities, promoted sustainable resource use, and contributed to increased income opportunities for local communities while supporting environmental conservation.
